CME Group is the first major U.S. exchange to close a trading floor as preventive measures against the pandemic COVID-19. The announcement done Wednesday night is in line with the advice of medical professionals to reduce the transmission of coronavirus.
The closing will take effect Friday, March 13, 2020, after closing hours. CME note in a statement that no coronavirus cases have been reported at the Chicago Board of Trade trading floor. CME adds that the Trading Floor Community will receive “additional q&a” on Thursday relating to “the execution of certain floor products, procedures, and protocols and other floor-related practices.”
