(WNDT.OB) WindTamer Corporation Delivers Mobile Trailer-Mounted WindTamer Turbine To U.S. Army
(PublicWire.com Technology News Release)WindTamer Corporation (”WindTamer”) (OTCBB: WNDT) announced today the delivery of a mobile trailer-mounted WindTamer turbine and renewable energy storage unit to the U.S. Army at its Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The innovative portable combination turbine and storage unit, which was purchased by the U.S. Army in April 2010, was delivered on August 19 and will be used as a demonstration unit for the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (”RDECOM”). RDECOM is the Army’s largest technology developer and its primary source for research, development and engineering services.
The renewable energy trailer was designed by WindTamer engineers in conjunction with RDECOM to be able to rapidly deploy immediate power to a military user through 100% wind and solar power. The trailer-mounted unit includes a patented WindTamer turbine that is used to provide energy to an onboard storage system. The unit has inputs for solar energy and shore power AC as well as multiple 28VDC and 120 VAC outputs, and has full monitoring capabilities of all energy components (wind, solar and energy storage) as well as monitoring capabilities for wind speed and temperature.

Mark Matthews, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for WindTamer, said, “The mobile WindTamer turbine and wind/solar energy storage unit is being tested for use as an alternative to diesel generators in various military applications. Diesel fuel, especially fuel that must be delivered by the military to remote areas, is extremely expensive, and after transportation costs are factored in, can cost $20 per gallon or more. Our mobile unit would offset that high cost of transportation by generating renewable energy on site. We view military use of our trailer-mounted system as a significant market for WindTamer going forward.” Michael T. Brundage, Chief, Power Sources Branch, U.S. Army RDECOM said, “The Army is pleased to have taken delivery of WindTamer’s renewable power trailer. We are pleased with the unique design and functionality of the trailer and we look forward to testing the unit and working closely with the fine professional staff at WindTamer.”
